Debunking the necessity of strong government

Whence reading from the new Economist (May 26th) issue, I ran into strong disagreement with their interpretation of the Euro crisis, specifically the democratic deficit in the EU and the potential (ie, inevitable) departure of Greece from the union. The reason that I subscribe to a magazine such as the Economist is because I want to see different viewpoints and be able to make an argument against them. What fun is there if you agree with everything that you read?
Anyway, the series of articles seemed very much built on fear, a very conscientious one. It basically warned of an economic apocalypse if Greece were to leave and offered the solution of greater federalism and integration. This made be laugh out loud, and I don’t do that often.
